ASPC Position on Non-Doctors performing Vasectomies

Date: 03 Nov 2025

The ASPC were requested by the CoSRH (formally  known as the FSRH) for our opinion on Non-Doctors performing vasectomies.

The Vasectomy leads discussed the psostion, taking reference to the discussion and vote taken at the ASPC 2-25 Conference which was almost unanimous on the decision that the ASPC should not be training any Non-Doctors in any procedure.

In summary:

The ASPC believe vasectomy should remain a doctor-led procedure.

The barriers to service provision in the UK are financial and structural, not workforce-related.The focus on non-doctor provision is therefore a distraction from the real issues: commissioning failures, flawed data, and under-investment.
